Then you have my dad that bought a NEW 1982 Ford Mustang only to give it to his other son when he got married a few years later. After my brother had it for awhile, he sold it back to my dad.

Dad bought the car twice.... and new it was the same one.

All of us kids got a car from my parents.
Sis - a 1971 Comet that one had to scrape the insides of the windows in the winter time

Bro - a 1982 Mustang which he sold back to our parents.

ME - a 1987 Mustang that I got to use as a trade in on a 1994 Ford Tempo 2 door and I also got the 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 :DIt's great being the youngest

My family's "hand-me-down" was a 1971 Ford Pinto used first by my grandfather (who bought it from a business partner), then my aunt, and finally my parents. It was a station wagon model, so no explosions, although Dad did manage to rip out half the chassis when he skidded out and hit the side of a railroad track. :rolleyes:It's long since been crushed of course.

Anyone out there who had an ACD product as a first car? :D

P.S. Bill, weren't you going to get the interior out of your cousin's Cabriolet for your own project?

That's still up in the air. I think the other interior is too light colored for my taste.

I want a dark caramel color or even black. I am not concerned about authenticity on this particular Cord.

So I'm on my way to the West Coast meet driving the s/c 35 pheaton. Pull off the highway in a small town Paso Robles. I drive to the town square to meet my family for lunch; pull in to a normal street parking spot. Still a fair amount to drive before the meet in Santa Maria. I'm checking my car out for whatever, when this car pulls in about 2 spaces away. A kid gets out, about 10 years old, walks by with his mother. "Auburn?" he asks without looking at the hubcaps or other identification as most adults do.

Surpirised, I say, "Yes, how did you know?"

The boy replied casually, "Oh, I know because A.B. Jenkins drove the car over 100 m.p.h. " and he turns and walks off to catch up with his mother without even checking the car out.

You could have scraped me off the ground...I swear this kid wasn't taller then the door handle!! Okay, he could have been 12 years old, who knows. How this kid knew that, it was as casual a statement as if there was an Auburn on every block!

Maybe Paso Robles is behind the times and Auburns are still the hot car?

I bet that's it, and he is the son of the dealer! Strange that the mom wasn't driving an ACD car! Wow, it was my chance to load up on parts...Lee
