GOT IT!
When in doubt, get the biggest crow bar you can find!
Thanks to everyone who responded. The flywheel is off.
I am glad we have the Cord L-29 Forum.
Cheers,
John Meredith

There should be two threaded holes to screw in bolts through the flywheel to put pressure against the crank. , but if they are not there you can just use a pry bar and keep changing positions. The line-up pins do fit very tight.

I have not had to us a puller to remove the flywheel. There must be another problem.

Hi Ken,
It isn't the ring gear. That is machined onto the flywheel. It is the flywheel attached to the crank. There are 6 bolts and 2 studs. Bolts have been removed. But, pulling the flywheel is a bear and I do not want to damage anything. Is there a specific commerical puller that anyone knows about for this size of flywheel?
Cheers,
John

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Ken, it sounds like John is having trouble removing the flywheel from the crank, not the ring gear from the flywheeel.

If it is an original and has not already been cut for the replacement ring gear, it does not come off. they were machined as a unit.

To All,
Does anyone have a suggested method for removing the flywheel off an L-29 engine? Does anyone know of a specific commerical puller for this job?
Please let me know.
Thanks!
