I'm sure the Cord 812 had plenty of power to pull it, but I question the braking power to stop it.
My 2 Cents

The reason for this comment is to steer Joel to the photo images in
the Jim Brochman Collection / Cord 810/812 Gallery that he is unable
to locate. The important thing to remember when commenting in these
Brochman Collection galleries is to cite the location of the print or prints
you are discussing by Page , Row, Photo position and number. In this
case the two photos are located at Page 7, Row 10, Photo positions are
the first two on left and are Image Numbers JBA (755) jpg and JBA (756)
jpg...
Thanks! That helped me find them.
That is indeed an interesting scene.

Thanks too to E.L. for identifying the early original owner of this fine
low mileage 1937 Cord Supercharged Phaeton. George, could this car
perhaps be S#31651H , Engine # FC 2145 and Body # C-91 452 ? Was
the light color shown in the photo images with boat and trailer original
to the car and what color is the car today ? It is not your dark colored
S/C phaeton with the Glenn Pray mounted rear spare but I am not sure
I know the car. Best regards to all. Jonathan Richards in Iowa

C L Herring also drove an 851 Speedster at Daytona in the early years on the beach. I am the third owner of the cream colored S/C Phaeton
