V-Blocks

Finally finished my V-block fabrication to check runout on the trans main shaft. Turns out I have maybe 1 1/4 runout overall lenght. Not the possible 7 to 8 I got in my lathe. What I believe caused that high runout was the drilled centers on the mainshaft have been hit with a hammer a few too many times. I cleaned them up as best I could but still had an off center runout. Here are some pics of the Vblocks and how i used them on my lather bed. The C clamps are there just to hold the blocks in place. they are not tight on the precision ways and the angle iron Vblock is aluminum so its not marring the machined ways.
