A call for a bit of help ! What could be causing an issue with the oil pressure gauge ?
The car is getting 'recommissioned for street driving . It starts and sits at idle and the
gauge reads '80' More idling and then the gauge Max's out and then drops to '70' and
won't move . So I disconnect that guage and substitute a new gauge . Start the car and
let it idle again and it reads '80' and then after a while with minor rev to fast idle speed , the
new guage Max's out and then drops to '70' and then it won't move . All a bit weird to me .
Anyhow , any help in solving this issue would be much appreciated . Hope to be on road soon .
MICK

I would check the oil pressure relief valve, it may be stuck .

I had the same problem on my Cord. It turned out to be the oil pickup was partly blocked. Had to take down the oil pan and replace the pickup with a better unit

My guess is the oil pump relief valve has failed. Might need to remove oil pan. Then remove pump and have someone check it out.

Mark, is an 810 / 812 oil pickup the same as Auburn?

My guess is the auburn oil pickup is very differant from the floating pickups found in the 810 812 Cord engines. Remember the Auburn engines had oil filters I recall but no filter in the Cord engines. engineering back then believed a floating pickupwould only draw the "clean oil" off the top of the resivour. Sadly they did not think about all the material dropping down from the running engine into the oil.
