You could order one but they weren't available till much later. Do you really think once he was dead the state would have completed the order? If so it belonged to the state. If a claim is made it should be backed up by paper work or it is just hearsay. Hearsay isn't worth a penny.

Good point.
The articles said it was ordered by the State before he was assassinated but I don't know enough about the Cord timeline as to whether you could order a car before the LA show.
Calling it the Huey Long Cord is definitely stretching it , Kinda grabs your attention though!

not sure if the chronology of the 810/812 matches Huey Long's -Huey Long was assassinated September 10,1935-as I understand (and I'm new to the 810-812 world,so forgive me if I'm incorrect!),the 810 wasn't introduced until November 1935, at the L.A. Auto show

The colour is spectacular and it is obviously Cadet Grey the same as my 810 Westchester. I believe there were a few Cords built with twin side mounted spares. One of which was a phaeton owned by William Horning of Waterdown,,Ontario during the 1950s. William subsequently sold this car to somebody in the US. It wonderful to see such a magnificent Cord restored and running again and in good hands.
I just love that colour, I wonder how many pounds of ground up fish scales went into the paint ?
Cheers,

I feel the dual side mounts distracts from the cars lines. But still a very interesting car. Would love to see it too.

Hi Brad,
The longer wheel base of 132" instead of 125" and the "custom built" badge on the right side behind the front fender are not unique. In 1937 Cord added two additional sedans to their production line: "Custom Beverly" and "Custom Berline". Both of them had the longer wheelbase and the "custom built" badge. So this was a factory option and nothing unique.
The armouring and the side mounted spare wheels sure are kind of unique.

Huey Long 810 Cord was created by Brad Hoskins
Article in the local paper on a just completed restoration to be displayed at the annual autoshow.

Anyone care to weigh in on the history and accuracy?
Can't say the sidemount spares do anything for me but the local news station ran this story that claims the sidemounts were more for occupant protection than they were an attempt to improve the styling.

Apparently its is being offered for sale.
