The Crosley radio from my dad's renumbered 812 came to life last night for the first time in roughly 50 years.
Here's a short demo video for the curious:

I put it through a full electrical restoration--new capacitors, rewound coils, and one new tube. I've opted to use the OEM mechanical vibrator because Antique Automobile Radio has stopped making solid state vibrators for this model of radio, and the original buffer capacitors are in good condition for their age. You can hear the hum of the vibrator in the video before the speaker turns on. It's hooked up to a reproduction Cord antenna hanging from the ceiling.

I came across a few inaccuracies in the original circuit diagram, so I'll redraw it and post here when I have the time.

Nicely done restoration. I have the same radio, Crosley A-455. Did you do the restoration yourself or did someone else do this restoration?

Do you have a scale diagram for the antenna under the chassis?

Cheers,

John

Thanks, I did the restoration myself.

You can find a diagram of the antenna in the radio's user manual, although I don't know if it's to scale.

Hi John.
I have a scale drawing of the radio antenna plus the insulated mounting pieces that I made a few years ago.
I will have to dig it out and post it on this site for you. I will try to do this tomorrow.

I managed to get the antenna drawing reduced to a suitable size. I hope you can read it ok.
