Fitted everything together today and thanks to you and our forum,I'm on my way.
I only wonder what is the need of the strap, since with the flat spring adjusted, the door stays open without falling back.
Need to re-chrome the hinge and some bits of the lock and then one more item on my to-do list will be crossed out.
Thanks Thomas!
Aris

The strap is attached to the top hinge bolt and not the bottom like I said in my previous post.

The bottom of the strap has a rectangular metal plate over it with a metal screw going through. The top of the strap is not sandwiched between the hinge and door. The end of the strap is folded over and it goes on top of the door lip . The bottom hinge bolt goes through it with the washer and nut on top. These pictures are a little better focused and should show.

Thanks for the picture Thomas, it now makes sense. Please be kind enough to clarify if the bottom of the strap is attached with a screw with washer and the top sandwiched between the hinge and the cover.
