Way back I installed the Pertronix electronic ignition and since then I forgot about this issue. I use them in four classics-drivers with excellent results. They go for $70-80, they are easy to install and you keep the original looks. I carry with me the original point plate just in case, but never had to use it.

I cannot see why not. I set all of my points with a dwell meter.
I'm guessing that "Fancy tools" like a dwell meter in the 1930's were pretty rare and expensive.
Pretty much every Mechanic had feeler gauges, and set with that, it would run.

Can we use a dwell meter to set the points gap on the 810 812 engines? I have wondered this for some time. It would seem like a better way of establishing the correct gap. Thanks.
