I once had a piston re-sized by a machine shop. They knurled the sides such as in this you tube video. I do not remember what increase in diameter it could make or if it was done to give the piston the correct shirt shape on the piston, just a thought.

Back in the day automotive machine shops could expand pistons using a shot peening process. You could check around to see if anyone still does it.

What is a recommended brand of pistons and why? Also what piston brands should I stay clear of. My new set has about 5 to 6 thousandths clearance so I probably should replace them. Sad because they are new pistons purchased way back is early 1961. Rings on them are new also.
