One of the books on the collection mentions that Fritz Schlumpf [i:188boz6r]hated[/i:188boz6r] American cars, hence...none in the collection.

Hello all : I just visited the Schlumpf museum in Mulhouse, France. They are not closed for lunch; as a matter of fact, we had lunch at the museum.
It is not the easiest place to find, but once in the area, the signage to the museum is good. Parking is confusing as it is a good one hundred yards, and across a stream via long bridge to the main entrance.
I kept asking locals about the best way to get to Mulhouse. Now, I was using the U.S. Pronunciation......Mul as in "mulling it over" and house as in dwelling. They could not figure out where I wanted to go until the light came on. The proper French pronunciation is "moolooze." We had a good laugh!
The car collection is excellent and well displayed. I did not see one American car, save for a Harley-Davidson motor bike with sidecar. They have an excellent Formula 1 display starting in the 1950s thru the mid 90s.
Put on your bucket list if you are in the area.
CORDially, Tim.

Thank you again for the great pics of the engine internals. I have saved most all of the pics you have posted here for everyone. I use them all the time when working on my cord.

Anyone know if the black is the correct color to paint that part of the panel. Thanks everyone.

I?am not sure, if I can understand well, but the black one is unoriginal repaint on this part.

These are some great pictures on an unmolested Cord. I see the asbestos brick on the exhaust legs. What a hazard that stuff is way back then. Sad looking engine too with the passenger side block pushed outwards from the freeze. Too bad we didn't have freeze plugs in these blocks. May have saved a few/ The Special sure is a nice looking restoration. I'm not sure we its called a Special. Can anyone explain why its that way..

Hi,

Great pictures to help with my re-assembly of 1509A. Not everything looks familiar though--has all the relay hardware been redesigned and replaced?

Thank you for posting!!

Hello,

I would guess these old-fashioned opening times are history.

B.t.w.: the scenic german Black Forrest (with its popular cuckoo clocks <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> ) is only 20 mls eastward across the Rhine river.

Agree with Mike. You will never see a more unusual venue. Beyond the Bugattis the cars are an eclectic European mix. It is in an industrial area as this was once a woollen factory. Alsatians take lunch very seriously as was pointed out, however the food in the small local restaurants is memorable as is the local wine and cheese!

If any of you get a chance to go to France, don't miss this collection. The signage is all in Frence, of course, but the cars speak for themselves.
