I saw this car when I was invited for a visit with Randy at his shop. It was a great day and this car looked fabulous. The smell of the new leather was something to remember from long ago playing baseball with a new mit. No detail was missed from what I saw. I did not know the startix operated differentl on these cars compared to the cord cars but maybe Jay had his clutch depressed???lo

I was told that all that clear, such as the engine and steering wheel was considered as over restoration.
That is what I wanted to do to my Phaeton but was discouraged. It looks great but not correct.
Do you think if he went to Auburn in September would points be taken away?

1748: I've heard the 'no-declutch' Startix is either a source of amusement or terror depending on whether you were anticipating its operation .Like the freewheeling, I think there is a good reason why it was discontinued. Can you imagine either of those features in today's car's?
Speaking of freewheeling, it was funny to see Jay struggle( IMHO) to explain what it does because I've been there myself . I tell people it is a one way clutch that is only engaged when the engine is driving the the car .

Richard : I didn't notice the clear on the steering wheel but I did notice the amazing job Randy did on the disappearing wiper. Perhaps Randy can give us some tips on how he did that :)
I suspect is was a Hollywood filming thing so as not to deprive us of the star's impressive visage.
