I took a quick look and thought it was the radiator. Randy, you are absolutely right !
I stand corrected. A PF-4 plug is it .

Curt Is correct for the radiator drain but you were working on the water pump which is a pipe plug. R

My 898 came with a radiator drain cock H1-217 which is the same drain cock that was carried into the 34-36 6 & 8 cylinder cars.
H1-217 is in the 898 Auburn parts list page 58.
New ones are available.

Randy, would the plug have been steel or brass?
Thanks,

Hello It was originally a square headed pipe plug. No pet cock. Randy

Replacement Radiator Hose Petcock 8-98 was created by curtiss
I have a leaking radiator hose petcock on our 1931 8-98 and I was hoping one of you know the size and thread so I can order one?
I see one here that looks similar but not sure if it is 1/4 NPT or something bigger.
