What should the fittings on the shut off valve and the switching valve be? Also, was the three way block painted with the manifold or was it installed later and left brass color? Thanks Dave
Dave, I am no expert on 31-33 cars. On 34's with free wheeling, the fittings were natural and all were 7/16 inverted flair.
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

All of the fittings I have seen are male SAE flare fittings or compression sleeve fittings. No inverted flares( unless those are on the hydraulic brakes lines )
Interesting sleuthing!
So if Auburn was trying to follow the fastened decoder format for lines, then the first number after the dash is the pipe diameter in 16th's and the next three digits are the pipe length in 1/2ths.
2S-5014 - fuel pump to carb line is 5/16th x 7 inches long
2S-3076 - oil filter to inlet tube is 3/16th x 38 inches long
Which is what the parts manual says!!! Never noticed that before, interesting observation!
Can't quite get to the same place as you did with the fittings in the 1931 parts book as they are all two digits after the dash only.
All bets are off for the Bijur system which uses 5/32 line
Now if you can sort out the secret decoder for the SZ fasteners, you'll be ready for Bletchley Park!!!

An example out of the 1932 parts book of the fuel line going from the tank to the fuel pump would be:
2S4284
2S = Metal Tubing
4 = 4/16" or 1/4" line
284 = 284 / 2 or 142" long
A flair fitting would be
12S341
12S = Lubricating and Pipe Fittings
34 = Flaired Elbow
1 = 1/4" ( 0 = 3/16" and 2 = 5/16" )
12S387
12S = Lubricating and Pipe Fittings
38 = Flaired Nuts
7 = 1/4" ( 6 = 3/16" and 8 = 5/16"
I'm out of room here to list the other flair and compression fitttings. My question is, did they use flair fittings or reverse flair fittings? A flair fitting has the tubing butting up to a male threaded fitting where a reverse flair has a female fitting. Thanks
