I would check with Glen Pray @ 918-251-3161. He has worked on a lot of these cars and knows how to set up a rear end for good life and minimal noise. He still had some of the rear end gear parts not too many years ago.

I am in the process of removing what is commonly called a "spider gear "which has a tooth chipped off, to replace it with a good one. I would like to communicate with someone who has done this procedure, as it is not working out as the shop manual describes it. Specifically, the locking pin cannot be removed because it will not clear the differential adjuster lock without removing the latter, and I have not removed it for fear it may upset some critical adjustment. I would be grateful for any information anyone might venture to offer.
