This thread should appear in the Auburn section, but until it is moved I will suggest that the ring can only be safely removed if the tire is fully deflated. Do not attempt to replace it back on the wheel and air a tire up on your own, if you do not have a "cage" for doing this work!!!

Auburn wire wheels was created by lloyd riggs
Help fellow club members: I have my first Auburn, a 1931 model 8-98 that has wire wheels. I am attempting to change a tire and am unable to remove the split ring. Is there a secret to this operation or is there a special tool that one is to use. I would appreciate any information and help that any member cares to pass along. Many thanks. lloyd riggs
