Hey Michael

The VIN #CCC80S2023 indicates that it is an Auburn 876 Speedster produced by California Custom Coach. Their cars were available as turn key or as component cars.

I have tried to document the history of the Auburn Speedster Replicar industry on my website. You may find some helpful information there. www.auburnspeedsters.com

Watch ebay. it is a very good indicator of what these cars seem to be selling for.

Good Luck with your purchase.

I ASSUME FROM THE CCC IN SERIAL # IT IS A CALIFORNIA CUSTOM COACH BUILT CAR, PROBABLY FACTORY BUILT, THEY DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB ON THERE CARS, AS FAR AS WHAT TO LOOK FOR, IT WOULD BE THE SAME AS ANY 20 TO 30 YEAR OLD CAR, A/C , TOP AND SIDE CURTAINS AFFECT VALUE, AS WOULD GENERAL CONDITION OF PAINT. CHROME ETC.

Welcome to the ACD Club Forums.

From what I have seen on eBay, the used replicas go for $30,000-$40,000 depending on condition.

Real Speedsters only have the pipes on the drivers side. So it is easy to spot the replicas which have pipes on both sides which indicate a V8 engine. The reals ones used a straight 8, hence the pipes only on one side.

Replicas sit about 3" lower than real ones. I like them lower, but the low stance is a sure give away. The factory did not want to make a new chassis specifically for the Speedster so a sedan chassis was used.

There are a number of manuafacturers who made replicas, some better than others. There should be a manufacturer's ID tag on the automobile somewhere.

Good luck!

Hi!

I have found an 1936 Auburn Speedster Boattail for sale.
This is a replica I am quite sure as it has:
- Fiberglass body (at least part of it)
- Valve cover is from Edlebrook
- V8 engine quite recent...

The VIN # says: CCC80S2023.
Title says original title date: 02/28/1989

I am new in this domain!

Who is the manufacturer of this car?
What is the value of such a car, knowing that it is supposed to be running and quite good overall condition,

Thanks,

Michel
